Didier Leroy, Toyota’s highest ranking non-Japanese executive, will speak at the Automotive News Europe Congress on June 21 in Barcelona, Spain.

Leroy, 59, holds three key positions at Toyota. As chief competitive officer he is focused on improving long-term competitiveness in all regions. He also oversees r&d, manufacturing, purchasing, sales and marketing for Toyota and Lexus in the NAFTA region, Europe, Africa and Russia, and is responsible for sales and marketing for Japan.

In 1998, Leroy left his job as deputy plant director at Renault’s Le Mans operation to join Toyota for the launch of its greenfield plant in Valenciennes, France. The French engineer later became head of Toyota Motor Europe and the company’s first non-Japanese executive vice president.

Automotive News Europe’s Rising Stars ceremony will be take place June 20 at Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona. The congress program will be held June 21 at the Hotel Fairmont King Juan Carlos I, followed by a gala dinner at Barcelona Football Club’s Camp Nou stadium.
